Zambia starts to prepare for the Extraordinary Mission Month of October 2019
Paul Samasumo – Vatican City
The Extraordinary Mission Month announced by Pope Francis celebrates the 100th anniversary of Pope Benedict the XV's Apostolic Letter of 30th November 1919, in which he emphasised the missionary responsibility of all baptised persons in announcing the Gospel. This responsibility is not only a duty of religious men and women but of the whole Church.
Baptised and sent
Every year, the universal Church marks the month of October a unique period for the missions. In 2019, the month of October will be extraordinary because of this special commemoration. According to the Holy See’s Congregation for the Evangelisation of People and the Pontifical Mission Societies, EMM OCT. 2019 will also be an opportunity for renewal of the missionary zeal, and an introduction of the missionary dimension in ordinary pastoral care. The theme of EMM OCT. 2019 is, "Baptised and sent: The Church of Christ on Mission In the World."
EMM OCT. 2019
Various initiatives have been launched by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) to publicise EMM OCT. 2019. A website, www.october2019.va has been launched to promote and animate EMM OCT. 2019. Through the website, Church multimedia providers can also find resources and content to inspire their audiences.
