Cardinal Tong appeals for peace in Hong Kong

Cardinal John Tong Hon, the Apostolic Administrator of Hong Kong, refers to the current difficult situation in Hong Kong and invites all parties to engage in dialogue and work for peace.

“Following the Social teaching of the Church, peace always comes from our Lord Jesus Christ, and peace should be internal first. We cultivate ourselves with our prayer, and then we witness peace, or we can be a peacemaker through our speech or through our behavior to influence others so that peace can be spread out. And then finally, those people in conflict should sit down and talk to each other. Finally we can achieve reconciliation so that we can implement what the Lord asks us to do: to love each other and to forgive other people’s offenses. So that is the result of peace.”
