Cardinal Collins: May the Risen Lord be our hope and joy
By Vatican News
In his Easter message for 2020, Cardinal Thomas Collins of Toronto says, “In our Risen Saviour, we find our hope, our joy, our courage to face the troubles of this world, and a sure sign of our destination”.
The world in which we live, he says, “is well symbolized by Lent and by the Way of the Cross”. Especially this year, in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are forcefully reminded of “the reality of suffering and sickness”, but also of great evils such as persecution and the “advance of secularism and the culture of death”.
This, he says, “is the reality of the world”.
Hearts set on the Resurrection
And yet, at Easter we are reminded, too, of the destination to which we are called: “As we journey through this world, our hearts are set on the glory of the heavenly city Jerusalem, the glory of the Resurrection”.
Wishing everyone a blessed Easter, Cardinal Collins says, “May the Risen Lord be for us our guide, our hope, and our joy, and the strength of our lives”.
