Pope on Mercy Friday visits women and their children in semi-detention centre

In his effort to reach out to the excluded and marginalized of society, Pope Francis on 2 March made an unscheduled visit to Casa Leda, a home for women in semi-detention in Rome where they live along with their minor children. The unscheduled visit of the Holy Father surprised the mothers, their children and staff on duty.
