Pope Francis: I am near to the people of Sulawesi

After reciting the Angelus with the faithful gathered in St Peter’s Square on Sunday, Pope Francis expresses his nearness to the people on the island of Sulawesi.

By Sr Bernadette Mary Reis, fsp

Pope Francis expressed his “nearness to the population of the Island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia”. These thoughts followed the recitation of the Angelus with thousands of the faithful gathered in St Peter’s Square on Sunday.

He continued saying,

I pray for the deceased – which are unfortunately numerous – for the wounded, and for those who have lost their homes and employment. May the Lord console them and sustain the efforts of those who are taking part in the relief efforts.
