Pope prays for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Pope Francis on Sunday expressed his spiritual closeness to the families of victims in recent fighting that erupted between Azerbaijan and Armenia, urging both parties to respect the ceasefire in view of a peace agreement. He was speaking to pilgrims gathered in Saint Peter's following the recitation of the Angelus prayer.
Severe Flooding in Italy
The Pope then mentioned the Marches region of Italy hit in recent days by torrential rains and catastrophic flooding, assuring the people of his prayers for those who died, the injured and their families, noting the suffering also caused by the damage to homes, roads, and structures. He prayed that the Lord may give strength to the communities there.
Journey to Kazakhstan
The Pope also recalled his recent journey to Kazakhstan for the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, mentioning that he will speak about it this Wednesday at the General Audience.
