Pope prays for victims of Hurricane Otis

Pope Francis assures the people of Mexico of his closness and prayers as they deal with the devastating consequences of Hurricane Otis.

Pope Francis has assured the people of Mexico of his prayers and closeness as they suffer the devastating consequences of Hurricane Otis, which has taken the lives of thity-nine people since it striking Mexico's Acapulco region. 

Addressing the faithful gathered in St Peter's Square for his Sunday Angelus, the Holy Father stressed that he is "close to the people in Acapulco, hit by a terrible hurricane".

"I pray for the victims, for their faimily members and for those who have suffered damage", he said, before concluding by invoking the Virgin of Guadalupe to sustain them at this difficult time.
