Pope meets with Denis Bećirović of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Pope Francis met on Saturday morning with Denis Bećirović, a member of the collegial Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mr. Bećirović later met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, accompanied by Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
Bilateral relations
In a statement, the Holy See Press Office reported that "appreciation was expressed for the positive bilateral relations," while discussions also touched on "some open questions in Church-State relations."
The leaders then addressed the domestic reality of the country, and they "reiterated that the basis for peace and stability is the legal and social equality of all constituent peoples and dialogue among all political actors."
International issues
The leaders also exchanged views regarding international issues, "with particular attention to the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the conflict in the Holy Land, the enlargement of the European Union to include the countries of the Western Balkans, and the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European path."
