Born in Alexandria, at the age of 12 she ran away from home and became a prostitute. When she reached Jerusalem at the age of 29, an inner voice kept her from entering the Basilica. She repented and went to the desert, where she wandered for 47 years and received the Eucharist from the monk Zosimus.
