Paul VI, who concluded the Second Vatican Council
Pope Francis through a Decree of Promulgation on Wednesday, has confirmed the Canonization of Blessed Paul VI.
Blessed Pope Paul VI, Giovanni Battista Montini, was elected as Successor of Peter on the 21st June 1963 and died on the 6th August 1978. Pope Benedict XVI on 20 December conferred on him the title Venerable and Pope Francis beatified him on 19 October 2014 after the recognition of a miracle attributed to his intercession. On Wednesday, through a Decree of Promulgation, Pope Francis confirmed the recognition of yet another miracle obligatory for his canonization. His liturgical feast is celebrated on the date of his birth on 26 September.
