The President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue highlights the message of fraternity conveyed by the Zayed Award assigned today in Abu Dhabi, especially in light of the current war in Ukraine.

Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot is the President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. Speaking to Vatican News’s Fr Felipe Herrera, the Cardinal stressed the message of fraternity conveyed by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity which has been presented to the King and Queen of Jordan and to the Haitian non-profit organization FOCAL.

Cardinal Ayuso said the event is especially relevant at this time of war in Ukraine.

“This event offers the opportunity to make an appeal to all people of good will to look for ways to implement human fraternity and to collaborate for building a better world.”

Cardinal Ayuso also hailed Pope Francis' call for a Day of prayer and fasting for peace in  Ukraine on Ash Wednesday, 2 March, inviting all religious leaders across the world to join in.

“May the collaboration of all, following our respective religious contribute to create a better world and particularly to restore peace among our human family!”
