Caritas conference on women in leadership roles comes to an end

Our correspondent in Paris, Francesca Merlo, offers her take on the second and last day of “The Full Face of Humanity: Women in leadership for a just society” conference in Paris, where people from around the world continued to discuss the hopes, fears, and solutions for women facing barriers to leadership in society.

The two-day Caritas conference has come to an end. "The Full Face of Humanity: Women in leadership positions for a just society" closed its works today at the UNESCO headquartes in Paris with an array of touching testimonies.

Whereas the first day was dedicated more to the identification of the systemic issues women face globally, this second day looked at solutions, and one of the recurring solutions that came up, in different forms, was that of education.

As the speakers, who travelled from all over the world to participate in the conference, organised in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to UNESCO, return to their various realities, the work done in these two days will be consolidated in each of them.

Caritas Internationalis Secretary General, Aloysius John, closed by noting that there will be a document produced, and each participant looks forward to seeing it bear fruits as they continue to tackle global gender inequality.
