Archbishop Gallagher begins five-day visit to the Philippines

The Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations embarks on a five-day journey to the Philippines where he will participate in the "Pope's Day", meet Government officials and attend the plenary assembly of the bishops and a conference.

The Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, begun a five-day visit to the Philippines on Monday where he will participate  in the annual celebration of “Pope’s Day” marking the feast day of St. Peter and St. Paul at the Apostolic Nunciature in Manila.

The visit to the Southeastern Asian nation will run until July 5.  

According to the Secretariat of State's Terza Loggia account on the social platform 'X,' during his stay Archbishop Gallagher is to take part in several meetings and events.  

On Tuesday 2 July he will pay a courtesy visit to the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., followed by a meeting with the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Enrique Manalo.

On July 3, the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations will move to Malaybalay, in the Northern Mindanao region, to participate in the Plenary Session of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). On the following day, he will celebrate Mass with the bishops in the Abbey of the Transfiguration in Malaybalay.

Finally, on Friday 5 July, Archbisop Gallagher  will take part in a Conference at the Foreign Service Institute in Manila affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
