Brazil: Bolsonaro wins first round of presidential elections
Candidate Jair Bolsonaro, who`s still recovering from being stabbed at a rally, has won the first round of Brazil`s Presidential Election. James Blears reports that he hasn`t won fifty percent or more of the vote, so it`s on to a second round runoff on October 28th.
In round one of Brazil`s Presidential Election, Jair Bolsonaro has won 46 percent the vote, just shy of fifty percent needed for outright victory. While Workers Party Candidate Fernando Haddad has gained 29 percent. As he cast his vote Congressman Bolsonaro quoted the Bible saying: "John 8.32. You will know the truth and the truth will set ye free." Bolsonaro`s taking a hard line on law and order demanding the death sentence, plus advocating traditional family values. A month ago, he was almost stabbed to death at a rally, requiring major surgery.
