Israel is continuing its barrage of Gaza, with the focus on Khan Younis in the south.

In addition to the action in Khan Younis, there's also been fighting in Rafah near the Egyptian border, and in Jenin in the occupied West Bank, at least four people were killed in a suspected drone strike.

Amid all this, international pressure is growing over the humanitarian crisis, and the United States has again pressed Israel to do more to protect civilians.

The UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees says the rest of the Gaza Strip is on the brink of a total breakdown of civil order.

Israel is expected to open the Keren Shalom crossing in southern Israel for security checks on aid shipments to the Gaza Strip. All trucks carrying humanitarian aid must be inspected before entering the enclave.

Later, the United Nations General Assembly in New York will vote on a non-binding resolution calling for a ceasefire. However, since this conflict erupted, the Security Council has failed six times to adopt a resolution demanding a ceasefire.

Meanwhile, the Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza says more than 18,000 people have been killed since Israel began its campaign against them.

It began heavily bombing the Gaza Strip after Hamas killed more than 1,200 people and took more than 200 hostage.
