The Armenian genocide, 24 April 1915-2018
24 April 2018 marks the 103rd anniversary of Metz Yeghern, the Great Evil, described as the horrific massacre of innocent people in Armenia. Many historians say up to 1.5 million Armenian Christians were killed by Ottoman Turks in 1915. Pope Francis on 12th April 2015, in St. Peter’s square, commemorated the 100th anniversary of the slaughter of Armenians, and courageously and unequivocally called it “the first genocide of the 20th century'' and urged the international community to recognize it as such.
