There's More in the Sunday Gospel than Meets the Eye for 18 February 2018
Listen to this week's edition of our reflection on the Gospel readings for 18 February 2018 which tell us that Christ being led to the wildreness was a loving response to God. Jesus the Son of God had no need to prepare for the apostolate he was about to begin but his human nature aspired to be alone with the Father, prepared by Jill Bevilacqua.
In this week's edition of "There's More in the Sunday Gospel than Meets the Eye, Jill Bevilacqua and Sean Patrick Lovett bring us readings and reflections from the Gospel of St. Mark 1:12-15.
The Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert,
and he remained in the desert for forty days,
tempted by Satan.
He was among wild beasts,
and the angels ministered to him.
After John had been arrested,
Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:
"This is the time of fulfillment.
The kingdom of God is at hand.
Repent, and believe in the gospel."
