The Church celebrates Extraordinary Missionary Month
The Universal Church is preparing to observe and celebrate an Extraordinary Missionary Month in October this year.
The Extraordinary Missionary Month was announced by Pope Francis to mark the 100th anniversary of Pope Benedict XV's Apostolic Letter Maximum Illud.
The theme chosen is “Baptized and Sent: The Church of Christ on Mission in the World.”
The initative aims to awaken the awareness of the meaning of mission and reinvigorate the sense of responsibility for proclaiming the Gospel with new enthusiasm.
Father Fabrizio Meroni, who heads the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions spoke to Vatican News about its importance and its aims.
