Cardinal Ferrão, the President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), has emphasized that synodality is journeying together with discernment, which calls for a new model of ecclesiastical leadership called “Synodal Leadership.”
The Cardinal, who is also the Archbishop of Goa and Daman, made the call on Sunday while inaugurating the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India national workshop for strategic planning in Bangalore.
“This leadership will create an environment which involves all who belong to the Church to ensure and respond to their deep desire of being understood, respected, appreciated and valued,” he said.
“It aims to take to a higher level, a synodal culture that boosts the morale and engagement of laity, religious and priests towards carrying forward Our Lord’s mission with enhanced zeal,” the Cardinal added.
The two-day strategic planning workshop, led by Fr. Joseph Xavier, S.J., Director of Indian Social Institute (ISI), Bangalore, sought to develop a thorough roadmap for completing the strategic planning process at both the national and regional levels.
