Pope makes an appeal for the Inter-Korean Summit
By Sr Bernadette Mary Reis, fsp
Pope Francis reminded those gathered for the Wednesday General Audience about the Inter-Korean Summit scheduled for 27 April.
Favorable opportunity for dialogue and peace
Pope Francis called the summit “a favourable opportunity to initiate a transparent dialogue” leading to reconciliation and union, “in order to guarantee peace on the Korean Peninsula and in the entire world.”
“I assure you of my prayers”
Addressing the people of Korea, “who ardently desire peace,” Pope Francis said that he promises the “prayer and the closeness of the whole Church”.
Become “artisans” of peace
Directing himself to those with “political responsibilities, I ask that they have the courage of hope making themselves ‘artisans’ of peace.” He ended by saying that he encourages them to confidently continue on the path begun “for the good of all”.
