By Vatican News
Following the conclusion of the first edition of World Children's Day – the two-day event that saw young children from around the world gathered around the Pope in Rome – Pope Francis wanted to express his gratitude to those who made this international event possible.
According to a statement from the Press Office, this afternoon, in the Paul VI Hall, “Pope Francis met with the people and groups that have collaborated in the realisation of World Day of Children over the past few days.” Among those present in the Hall were the coordinator of the event, Father Enzo Fortunato; the deputy coordinator, Aldo Cagnoli; and Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, “who addressed a word of thanks to the Pope and the volunteers.”
The statement concludes by noting, “At the end of the meeting, Pope Francis gave all those present his blessing.”
