Philippines president nominates new envoy to the Vatican
President Rodrigo Duterte has nominated Grace Relucio-Princesa the new Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See. Grace Relucio-Princesa also called ‘Nanay Amba’ (mother ambassador) was currently the Assistant Secretary of the Department Legislative Liaison Unit and the President of the DFA Ladies Foundation.
Grace was the first female Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and had previous postings in Iraq, USA, Egypt and Switzerland. She has been in the Philippine Diplomatic Service for more than 20 years.
Grace who is known for her concern towards Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) is assured of full cooperation by Bishop Ruperto Santos, chairman of the CBCP’s Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People and said that it’s an added “blessing” for Princesa “to work in Vatican and for the Vatican”.
She has risen above some of the most overwhelming challenges in Philippine diplomacy and foreign affairs and has been the recipient of Lingkod Bayan (Public Servant) Award.
The CBCP has at least five Filipino chaplaincies in Rome, Milan, Bergamo, Padova and Florence with 57 Filipino centers all over the country. For Bishop Santos, it will be holy and happy relationships of Nany Amba Grace with the OFWs, priests and religious sisters. (CBCP)
Princesa’s nomination must be approved by the bicameral Commission on Appointments.
